Crossing the Pond

A British Airways Boeing 777 is shown above the Atlantic in the deep blue of high altitude, a fractured carpet of white cloud stretching from the lower right to the hazy horizon. The aircraft's livery catches the cold high-altitude light.
The subject is the transatlantic crossing itself — the five or six hours of quiet cruise between the European and American coasts when the aircraft is beyond sight of land, tracked only by its contrail. I made the painting after flying on this aircraft to Tampa, Florida.
Exhibited with the Guild of Aviation Artists at their 2025 Annual Exhibition, the painting is signed in the lower left and dated in the lower right. It's framed in white wood with a silver outside edge.
