Hand-painted gifts for your clients — that feel personal, not corporate
Original paintings. A lasting impression.
A bespoke oil painting becomes a genuinely personal gift — something clients remember because it's made specifically for them, not mass-produced.
Whether it's for a client handover, a new class lauch, a refit completion, or a boardroom flagship, I paint from reference materials: plans, photography, or archive images. Detailed work, hand-painted by someone who understands the sector.
Each commission includes full reproduction rights, professional framing, and worldwide shipping.
Handcrafted artwork, painted to your brief.
Whether you have detailed references or just a concept, I can build accurate compositions. For refit and in-build projects, I work directly from your GA plans or renders — no photographs needed. Any angle, any lighting, any scenario you want captured.
The painting arrives framed and ready to display or gift. You receive high-resolution scans for prints, merchandise, or marketing. Commercial reproduction rights included. Full transparency, straightforward timeline.

Concept to delivery within 8-12 weeks.
Tell me the vessel and your deadline and I'll manage the rest, making sketches for your approval before any painting begins.
Tell me which vessel, roughly what you're imagining, and your deadline. If you're not sure what you want — that's fine, I can guide you.
I source references: plans, builder records, photography, maritime archives. Whatever it takes to get the details right.
I create composition sketches, usually 2-3 different views. We refine until the image works perfectly. No painting begins until you're entirely satisfied.
I paint, and you get updates at key stages so you can see how it's developing and know exactly where we are in the timeline.
The painting arrives framed and ready. I handle all shipping logistics and insurance. You'll also get high-resolution files so you can print or repurpose as needed.
I sketch different compositions: various angles, lighting, and moods. You choose the version that works perfectly. That sketch becomes your blueprint, and what you approve is what you get when the painting arrives.
Gregory Smith of Marine Paintings did an outstanding job creating a gift for my captain. He kept us updated throughout the process, welcomed our input, and created an incredibly detailed and beautifully painted piece of artwork. He even expedited shipping to ensure it arrived in time for the presentation.

Gregory Smith is a marine artist based in Southampton. He's spent twelve years developing his practice in oils, but his connection to the maritime world runs deeper after six years working directly in the sector, co-founding a creative company that served yacht builders and marine brands.
That sector experience shapes everything. He understands how boats are built, how they sit in the water, and how a thoughtfully commissioned painting becomes something a client treasures. Every painting is approached with that professional mindset: research thoroughly, get the details right, deliver on time.
A recent client wrote: "I am impressed with the professional way you approached the task, with a desire to get it just right."
He also partners with Compass Models of Hamburg on custom vessel models, offering another layer of support for clients seeking gifts or exhibition pieces.
Whether it's for a client handover, a fleet milestone, or a boardroom that deserves better than a photograph, just email me or call. Tell me the vessel, roughly what you're thinking, and when you'd want it. That's all we need to begin.
Not a problem; sourcing references is a core part of the service. Simply provide the vessel name, IMO number, or design concepts, and I will locate the General Arrangement plans, builder’s records, and archival material required to ensure absolute accuracy.
Yes. Commissions are frequently timed to naming ceremonies, fleet milestones, and corporate retirements. If you are working toward a fixed date, let me know from your initial enquiry so we can guarantee the timeline before work begins.
Yes, works are delivered worldwide with full insurance. I've shipped commissioned paintings to Europe, North America, and beyond.
We explore different options in the sketching stage and we'll refine from there. If changes emerge as the painting develops, we'll discuss and adapt. There's no limit to revisions during the sketch phase amd I want you entirely satisfied before I commit to oil.
Full reproduction rights mean you can print, reproduce, and use the image commercially for merchandise, marketing materials, limited edition prints, or client gifts. You'll receive high-resolution TIFF files (600 DPI) suitable for large-scale reproduction, plus web-ready JPEGs for immediate digital use.
That's entirely up to you. Some companies prefer to commission a painting as a surprise element of the handover experience. Others work with clients from the start, or position it as part of their service offering. Let's discuss what works best for your business.
A 50% deposit to begin work, 50% on completion due before shipping. This gives you time to review the finished piece, and me time to arrange framing, scanning, and logistics. Payment can be by bank transfer or other arrangement we discuss.
