Commission - Cable Fleet
Six cable-laying vessels are shown underway across open blue waters — a fleet portrait composed from plans and photography to commemorate nearly 40 years at sea for a retiring captain. From left to right: Global Link, Charles L Brown, Dependable (prominent in the foreground), Global Sentinel, Global Mariner, and Long Lines in the background on the right.
Cable-laying ships are among the less visible vessels in the modern merchant fleet, responsible for installing and maintaining the submarine cables that carry over 95% of the world's intercontinental data traffic. Each of the ships depicted here operated in this role across different decades of the industry's development, brought together in a single composition.
No single photograph of the ships together exists, so the fleet formation is an imagined assembly designed to read as a coherent group while preserving the accurate proportions and livery details of each vessel. Delivered to the USA in mid 2026.

Yours Is Waiting.
If this work caught your eye, a commission allows us to create something with the same spirit — a vessel, a stretch of water, a moment in maritime history that means something to you.
You don’t need to have all the details. Many commissions begin with nothing more than a name or a memory. We’ll work out the subject, the setting, and the composition together.
Leave your details and I’ll reply personally, usually within one working day.
