P&O Britannia is shown departing Southampton in late afternoon, her vast white hull catching the warm low light as she heads out of Ocean Dock towards the Solent. The cruise terminal is just visible on the left, with Ocean Village just off-page to the right of the image — a composition that emphasises her scale against the familiar Southampton waterfront.

At 1,082 feet in length, Britannia was the largest ship built for P&O Cruises when she was delivered by Fincantieri in 2015. Named by Queen Elizabeth II, she carries 3,600 passengers and is instantly recognisable as a P&O vessel by the Union Flag livery on her bow.

This view isn't particularly far from where I live, showing a ship I often see and hear. The painting was exhibited at the Southampton International Boat Show in 2024, and is signed and dated at the bottom of the canvas.
